“Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
We have all heard in some fashion or another “love your enemies.” We find this spiritual principle in the bible (Matthew 5:43-48). Scripture reminds us that it’s not hard to love people who love you and greet people who greet you; even the most wicked on earth can do that. When we exercise love outside of our boundaries, we are exercising enemy love. Enemy love has no limits and knows no stranger. God can do incredible works when we learn to love outside the box. Our greatest enemies can become friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even our closest relatives because that is who our greatest enemies are and where they reside. Enemy love has the power to transform lives, create unity, and change the world. Enemy love is only possible with God dwelling inside us. If you haven’t asked God to live inside your heart, today is the day to make the best decision you will ever make for your life and the world in which you dwell.
“Now there is a final reason I think that Jesus says, ‘Love your enemies.’ It is this: that love has within it a redemptive power. And there is a power there that eventually transforms individuals.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
God has made me into a new creation. God gives me a new birth in the act of surrender and nourishes me with God’s Word and Spirit. Glory to You, my Creator, You are gentle and humble in Spirit; renew me by Your grace.
- Teach me to be a good neighbor to the sad and the needy – that I may imitate you.
- Grant me something of your compassion towards those who are suffering.
- Grant me something of your kindness towards those who are needy.
- Grant me something of your patience towards those who are frustrating.
- Grant me the gift of your mercy, forgive my shortcomings, and deliver me from the evil one.
Turn my heart to You, eternal God, so that I’m always seeking the One thing necessary and devoting myself to acts of kindness so that I may worship You in spirit and truth. Through the power of Your Spirit, who lives and reigns with You, forever and ever. Amen.
Great Truth. I haven’t been telling my Mom “I Love you” so last night I took my challenge and told her Good night and that I Loved her. She is 89 and just list my Dad on 12/12/2020. Not only as her adopted Son but she needs to hear that from me alot more. I am so GRATEFUL to still have her in my life!!! Amen!!
You are blessed to have your mom still with you. She is blessed to have a sober son who has turned his life over to the Son of God.
Powerful truth! PTL 🙏 Amen!!
