Who Programmed You?

January 19, 2021 By Harold Long Leave a Comment

People of faith have gone up against science on the subject of moral code for centuries. How is it human beings have been programmed to know right from wrong? Evolutionists argue humans have evolved, and it’s part of the natural selection process; they have developed over time this natural ability to understand what is right and wrong. People of faith argue this ability to know right from wrong is the workings of intelligent design. Who programmed you? Natural selection or a Higher Power? Many scientists believe in God, but the majority identify as agnostic or atheist.

The Moral Law tells us the tune we have to play: our instincts are merely the keys. ~ C.S. Lewis

We have all wrestled with that soft, still voice; some call our conscience, and others call the Holy Spirit. That inner voice that attempts to encourage you to make the right choices when the alternative looks so inviting? How does one make sense of this yearning to wrestle with what is right or wrong? What causes a person like Jesus Christ, Oskar Schindler, Mother Theresa, or Bill Wilson to give up their life for others’ sake? They gave up their life to do what is right for others and sacrificing their own needs in the process. It’s hard to subscribe to the idea that this kind of response is part of an evolutionary process! This desire must come from the Creator of the Universe, and that, my friends, is incredible news.

Conscience is the internal perception of God’s Moral Law. ~ Oswald Chambers

My Creator, I long for clarity for how I am programmed and for whom I shall surrender my life. Please grant me the ability to exercise my faith and not fall into the desire to humanly explain away everything I see with my eyes, hear with my ears, a feel with my entire being. I turn my will and my life over to You and thank You for this experience called life. In Your Spirit and Name, I pray these things. Amen.
