Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves. ~ Henry David Thoreau
When my soul was in the lost-and-found
You came along to claim it. ~ Carole King
We have all been lost at some point in life. Being lost because of worldly things is part of life’s journey. Success, intellect, politics, supremacy, booze, drugs, sex, codependency, money, power, greed are only a few of the ways we can get lost in this world. Since we all have been lost and can be lost again means we need to be found. Lord, I was lost, but now I am found; thank You for never giving up on me and pursuing me without end.
There is an old country saying that goes like this, “A man is never lost if he is making good time.” Now that’s funny. I don’t care who you are, and there is a lot of truth in that statement. Pride and fear can keep us lost; our unwillingness to admit that we are lost can lead to the point of no return. If we fail to surrender, we miss out on the best life possible. We miss out because we are unwilling to surrender to the truth that we are lost and need to be found. Lord, grant me the willingness to ask for help, to confess that I am lost, and to surrender my life over to You.
