Fully Vaccinated

There is no doubt the number one phrase for 2021 will be “I am fully vaccinated,” and the second will be “I am not getting vaccinated.” What’s a person to do? Take the vaccine or avoid it at all cost? Is it all a bunch of political hype and manipulation? Is it greedy pharmaceutical executives and those on the take creating terror intentionally to profit off the misinformed and vulnerable? In December 2019, COVID-19 made its debut, and since then, millions of people have died and millions of others infected. The federal government has made available three vaccines throughout the world; the million-dollar question is, will you get fully vaccinated or not?

We are in the middle of Holy Week. People of faith will be remembering the greatest act of love ever carried out in the history of creation, including the liberation and salvation of God’s chosen people. Jewish people will remember the exodus from slavery in Egypt and the angel of death passing over their blood-stained doors. Christians will reflect on the final days of Jesus on earth, remembering His words, His weeping, His crucifixion, and ultimately His resurrection. The world would now have a vaccine that would prevent permanent spiritual death (separation from God forever) and the freedom from the bondage of our hurt, habits, and hang-ups (or, if you wish, sin).

Thousands of years later, people still debate and question this spiritual vaccine. Is it all a lie? If it is, it’s the greatest lie ever told. Was this Jesus a whack job, nothing more than a crazed human being? If He was, then He is the most famous liar and fraud of all-time. Every person must decide for themselves whether or not to get fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Every person must choose to turn their life over to the care, custody, and control of God or reject God and remain the master of their own lives; both require an act of faith. To do nothing is an act of faith.

It’s no longer a question if the virus is a present threat and danger to humankind. By now, every person knows someone who has contracted COVID-19 and has most likely known some who lost their life to COVID-19. It’s also not a question of whether humans are selfish, broken, and lost in one form or another. The only way to ensure you don’t lose your life to COVID-19 is to get fully vaccinated. The only way to ensure you don’t die a spiritual death and get consumed by the cunning, baffling, and powerful nature of sin in your life is to get fully vaccinated. The ball is in your court; you will either trust the process or not. What is your choice, get fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or risk catching the virus and losing your life? Will you risk spending eternity separated from God and those who went before you, or will you choose to get fully vaccinated by asking God to be your Lord and Savior? Please remember Albert Einstein’s words and choose wisely; you’ll be glad you did, and so will God.

Lord, thank You for making it possible to get vaccinated against the countless diseases of this fallen world and the spiritual disease of sin. You offer everyone the vaccine of faith to prevent spiritual separation and death, along with preventing us from being consumed by our sinful ways. Please help us all surrender our fear, pride, and egos so that we can become obedient to Your will for our lives. Please continue to bless the countless people who have worked tirelessly to help bring forth the vaccines. Thank You for Jesus and His willingness to pay it all, so the world is spiritually vaccinated against the principalities and powers of this fallen world. In Your Spirit and Name, I pray these things. May Your will not mine always materialize, now and forever, Amen.
