A Front Row Seat To Glory

April 8, 2021 By Harold Long Leave a Comment

“The glory of God always comes at the sacrifice of self.” ~ Aiden Wilson Tozer

The disciples were eyewitnesses to the glory of God bestowed in Jesus Christ. Peter says this himself, “16 We didn’t repeat crafty myths when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Quite the contrary, we witnessed his majesty with our own eyes (2 Peter 1:16 CEB). Peter and the others knew Jesus was the King of Kings, Son of God, Messiah, and ultimately God. Because of their misinformed notions of who they understand the Messiah to be and by contrasting Jesus with that idea, it simply didn’t line up, so they were amazed but confused by the words and actions of Jesus.

It wouldn’t be until the crucifixion and resurrection took place that the fullness of God’s glory revealed in the person of Jesus Christ would be realized. These eyewitness accounts had to be affirmed by practical experience. At this juncture, the twelve disciples began to give their lives entirely to the ministry of Jesus. By the power of the Holy Spirit and walking the walk, they were transformed by fire and the Holy Spirit, never to be the same or return to their old lives. The Holy Spirit is what dwells deep inside us and who makes it possible for any believer to know the Lord. We never come to know the Lord from favoritism by the Lord, but because of the Holy Spirit.
